At the request of a panel-beater whose passion is classic cars, the Synactiv team took part in the restoration of part of a historic car, Figoni and Falaschi’s Delahaye type 135 M.
3D SCANNING
Starting from nothing more than the wooden chassis and few sheets of metal, the 3D scanning technology enabled us to reproduce the existing forms in digital format.
RETRO-DESIGN
We were then able to model the missing parts using the scanned model. (On the left is the scanned model, and on the right, the retro-design model)
PROTOTYPING
Once the 3D model had been completed, the model of the car could be machined out of polyurethane foam. This high-density foam model was then used to model the panels to reproduce the missing parts of the Delahaye.
